Community Plan
The Issue
Planning documents can be difficult to picture in real life. Residents deserve to see how different combinations of housing, infrastructure, public space, services, transportation, climate action and environmental protection could change daily life.
My Position
A new Official Community Plan should make the choices visible. Clear maps, three-dimensional models and future scenarios can help residents compare alternatives, understand trade-offs and contribute before decisions are locked in.
What Council Can Do
Use visual planning tools, scenario modelling and plain-language explanations throughout the planning process.
What I Would Advocate For
Show several plausible futures, explain the assumptions behind each one and invite residents to compare what they value, what they would change and what consequences they are prepared to accept.
Costs and Consequences
Good visualization requires time, expertise and reliable data. Poorly explained models can create false certainty, so assumptions and limitations must be made clear.
Questions That Still Need Answers
Which scenarios would be most useful to residents? What information is available and what is missing? How will public feedback change the scenarios and the final plan?
