Esquimalt has an extraordinary opportunity. A new Official Community Plan is not simply a map of where buildings may go. It is a chance to decide what kind of community we want to become before individual decisions make that choice for us.
We should show residents what different futures could look like, invite people into the process in ways that work for them, and plan housing, infrastructure, services, public safety, parks, local business and environmental stewardship together.
Future projections should show where homes and services could go, how people might move through the community, and the infrastructure their neighbourhoods require. A strong plan should help us understand the consequences of different choices and connect long-term goals to budgets, timelines and measurable results.
